Full Description

MDH Dal Makhani Masala 100g helps you recreate the beloved North-Indian “Dal Makhani” at home with the same deep, creamy and slightly smoky taste found in restaurants. The blend combines classic Indian spices such as cumin, coriander, black pepper, fenugreek, dried ginger and garlic, along with warm garam masala notes, to give your dal a rich flavour and appetising aroma.

Traditionally, Dal Makhani is prepared with whole black lentils (urad dal) and sometimes kidney beans (rajma), slow-cooked with butter or ghee, tomatoes, onions and cream. With this masala, you can easily prepare:

  • Classic Dal Makhani

  • Rajma-Dal style mixed lentil curry

  • Rich black-lentil curry without rajma

  • Creamy vegetarian dinner dishes for family or guests

Serve hot with naan, roti, paratha or steamed basmati rice.


Ingredients

Coriander, Red Chilli, Salt, Cumin, Dried Onion, Dried Garlic, Black Pepper, Dried Ginger, Garam Masala (cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf), Fenugreek, Turmeric, Paprika.

How to Use

  1. Soak black lentils (urad dal) and/or kidney beans (rajma) for 4–6 hours or overnight.

  2. Boil until soft and keep aside.

  3. In a pot, sauté onions in oil or ghee. Add ginger–garlic, then tomatoes and cook until soft.

  4. Add MDH Dal Makhani Masala (about 1–2 tbsp per 250–300g lentils/beans) and sauté briefly.

  5. Add the cooked lentils/beans and water to desired consistency.

  6. Simmer on low heat so flavours blend and gravy thickens.

  7. Finish with butter or cream if desired and garnish with fresh coriander.
